A gathering place, rich in history and traditions. Toscana Resort Castelfalfi collects and preserves the important legacy of this precious land, a crossroads of ancient cultures. The Borgo, once abandoned, has been able to withstand the test of time and today it comes overwhelmingly back to life, celebrating it in all its forms: in the elegance of a majestic nature, which has learned to live in perfect harmony with man; in the care of the land’s deep agricultural roots; in the commitment to protect and enhance art and culture, which for centuries have been the soul of this timeless place. This is the fire that ignited the desire to host in Castelfalfi an art exhibition that is a hymn to life, to rebirth. GEA, through the feminine shapes created by the talent of Franco Mauro Franchi and the effective creativity of Alberto Bartalini, tells the story of the intrinsic motherhood of nature, which is constantly reborn through itself, just as Castelfalfi is reborn today, stone by stone.
In their large proportions, in their tangled postures, in their mysterious and invasive anatomical deformations, these artworks convey to primitive, archaic, mythical dimensions, in a dreamlike atmosphere. A celebration of regeneration and life, like the one that returns today to Castelfalfi, which, abandoned for decades, has risked to being kept out of sight and memory.
The spaces of the hotel Il Castelfalfi, the streets of the Medieval Village, the Medici Park are invaded by the Artist’s imposing sculptures and become an open-air museum. Not only, GEA brings to light also another place, another suggestive hidden place for decades, that is now ready to reveal itself: The Cellars of the Castle of Castelfalfi. Theatre of history, their centuries-old walls have hosted prisons, cellars of fine Tuscan wines, and even some scenes from the movie “Pinocchio” by Roberto Benigni - of which part of the scenography can still be admired. Mysterious and fascinating, today the Cellars return to their former glory, hosting alongside the sculptures some powerful digital frescoes made with the artist’s preparatory drawings, to finally show themselves to anyone who wants to discover them.
And it is here, between mystery and charm, that contemporary art is brilliantly combined with tradition.
