Poggio i Soli Castelfali

Poggio I Soli - IGT Toscana Vermentino

Wine in Castelfalfi is steeped in ancient tradition. The plot I Soli, documented as early as 1427, shows a family of eight producing 10 barrels of wine, oil, and other products that year. Castelfalfi’s rich history includes records of its white wine being exported to China by the late nineteenth century. In a noteworthy event, Antonio Biondi, the then lord of Castelfalfi, sent two barrels of white wine, approximately 50 liters, to the Chen Si region.
Poggio I Soli is a crisp and versatile dry white wine, made with Vermentino grapes. Following the harvest, each vinification stage is dedicated to preserving and enhancing refined and elegant aromas. Exhibiting a straw-yellow hue, the bouquet reveals hints of fresh fruits, Mediterranean flora, and subtle notes of cedar, almond, sage, rosemary, and white flowers like jasmine. The taste is rich and balanced, bolstered by good acidity and elegant yet robust savory notes. While delightful when young, it has the potential to evolve gracefully over a medium-term period.

Fonterinaldo Castelfalfi

Fonterinaldo - IGT Toscana Vermentino

Derived from a selection of our Vermentino grapes, the wine, a symbol of a region bordering Florence, Pisa and Volterra, takes shape in a small production of numbered bottles.
Fonterinaldo plot is deeply entwined with the rich history of Castelfalfi, serving as a vital piece of the heritage of the influential Caetani family. This prominent family, linked to the illustrious Lorenzo De’ Medici, known as Il Magnifico, has shaped the story of this enchanting Tuscan corner for centuries.
Hailing from an area located in the center of Tuscany – where influences from the sea, rolling hills, and nearby mountains converge – Fonterinaldo encapsulates the quintessence of our local heritage. Following a cold-skin maceration for one night, the alcoholic fermentation process unfolds over ten days in cocciopesto amphora, concluding its process in our barrel room, where it matures for approximately four months. Exhibiting a straw-white hue with golden reflections, the bouquet exudes fruity notes of white peach and lemon zest, accompanied by herbaceous hints of thyme and a subtle balsamic scent. The palate is broad and persistent, marked by an almond finish characteristic of the variety. Possessing excellent acidity and steadfast sapidity, Fonterinaldo is predisposed to medium and long-term aging.

Falecine Castelfalfi

Falecine - IGT Toscana Rosso

Near the Carfalo Valley – a charming natural area carved over millions of years by the eponymous stream, extending for about 220 hectares – lies the area of Falecine, a land historically inhabited by the rich wildlife in Castelfalfi. Here, grapes of Sangiovese, Syrah and Merlot breathe life today into a modern style pale red wine. The north-facing vineyards facilitate a slower ripening of the grapes and a better formation of aromas, resulting in elevated acidity and a delicately muted color intensity. Falecine is a soft red wine boasting both balance and elegance. The gentle pressing of the grapes for one hour gives this wine its brilliant color. Its aromatic profile delights the senses with a bouquet of fruity and floral notes, reminiscent of roses, wisteria, and small red fruits such as wild strawberry and raspberry. On the palate, it is fresh and persistent, concluding with a savory finish and a hint of spice.

Casiscala Castelfalfi

Casiscala - IGT Toscana Rosso

From a lush, biodiverse land teeming with wildlife comes Casiscala, a wine that perfectly embodies our core sustainable philosophy. Inspired by this fertile, vibrant terrain, Casiscala respects and enhances the environment. Every bottle tells a tale of deep connection with nature, showcasing our dedication to preserve and regenerate this precious ecosystem. With each sip, we celebrate the beauty and vitality of our land, committed to safeguarding it for future generations.
Here, the fruity notes of Sangiovese harmonize perfectly with the characteristic spicy and velvety notes of Syrah. Following separate fermentations at controlled temperatures and a skin maceration lasting approximately ten days, the aging process in steel tanks and subsequent bottle maturation result in a flawless balance of aromas. Exhibiting an intense ruby-red hue with subtle violet reflections, this wine possesses distinct notes of fresh fruit with hints of red and mixed berries. These notes perfectly complement the spicy undertones of cinnamon and licorice, characteristic of Syrah grapes. The palate is gentle and well-rounded, featuring a persistent finish and marked by delicate tannins that make this wine easy to drink.

Cappella del Lupo Castelfalfi

Cappella del Lupo - IGT Toscana Rosso

The name Cappella del Lupo is linked to a legend that tells a story that happened in the woods of Castelfalfi in 1792. Today, the road that connects the nearby Montaione to Castelfalfi still bears the name of Cappella del Lupo and a small shrine with an image of Mary along the way recalls the legendary event of that night three hundred years ago.
The blend of diverse pedoclimatic factors gives a red wine, crafted from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, that boasts a unique and complex character. The richness of the soils nurturing these two vine varietals manifests in the formidable structure of this wine, a testament to the symbiosis between fresh soil, a mild climate, and morning sea breezes. Extended maturation in French barrels bestows complexity upon the wine, elevating its sensory qualities and refining its tannic profile. Initially presenting an intense ruby-red color with purple reflections, it boasts a complex bouquet featuring elegant notes of fruit, toast, and spice. The onset of ripe fruit, accompanied by hints of blueberry, black cherry, and plum jelly, evolves into delightful undertones of licorice, white pepper, tobacco, and vanilla on the finish. The palate is soft and rounded, with a persisting aroma that recalls the essence of wood and ripe fruit.

Poggio alla Fame Castelfalfi

Poggio alla Fame - IGT Toscana Sangiovese

In Poggio alla Fame, the Sangiovese grape represents the highest expression of central Tuscany, where we are located. Carefully selected from our oldest vineyard, this small-production gem is an authentic wine with elegant character. Visually, it gleams with brightness and vitality, and has a ruby-red color with garnet reflections; intense and intricate hints of ripe red and black fruits intertwine with floral notes of wild violets. The bouquet is further enriched by balsamic, spicy, and toasted undernotes, accompanied by tertiary aromas characteristic of the gradual evolution of Sangiovese in big barrels. This rich and robust flavor is accentuated by an elegant tannin boasting a fine grain and good sapidity. Best enjoyed when young to savor the fresh nuances of Sangiovese grapes, Poggio alla Fame is a wine with excellent acidity, making it equally suitable for aging. The key to its appreciation lies in its ability to evolve, showcasing a growing complexity with time, adorned by more mature and nuanced aromas.

Vinsanto Castelfalfi

Castelfalfi Vin Santo - DOC Vin Santo del Chianti

At Castelfalfi, the production of Vin Santo is an ancient tradition. Historically, this fine dessert wine was produced at Castelfalfi Castle, where bunches of grapes were hung to facilitate optimal dehydration and the subsequent concentration of sugars within the berries. Once dried, the grapes underwent vinification in the typical Tuscan caratello located in the castle. Castelfalfi Vin Santo del Chianti DOC is a sweet wine made from Trebbiano and Malvasia grapes, following time-honored Tuscan traditions. Symbolizing conviviality and hospitality, it evokes the essence of the countryside, rural life, and family. Visually, it possesses an amber hue with golden reflections; its aromatic profile unfolds with sweet notes of honey, dried fruits, almond, and amaretti, complemented by citrus notes of candied orange. On the palate, the taste is decisively sweet, yet the excellent acidity ensures a well-balanced, harmonious, and velvety experience. Ideal for pairing with signature Tuscan desserts and pastries.
